Parish Precept 2008/09

January 2, 2008

The Parish Precept is raised on behalf of the Parish Council by the Stratford on Avon District Council and forms a small part of the annual Council Tax charges each year. LIPC has requested £47,000 for the year 2008/09.
This equates to about £1 per week for a Band ‘D’ household in the village.

The precept income is spread across 4 sub-committees:

The overall budget for 2008/09 is:

The council is still struggling to compensate for the loss of the £5,350 Section 136 reimbursements from the District Council which was withdrawn 2 years ago. There are a number of pressing items which have forced us to raise the precept significantly above the prevailing rate of inflation. However, it must be stressed that some 10% of our income now goes towards paying bills which were previously funded by the District Council.
A detailed explanation of the increased precept will be presented to the Annual Parish Meeting.
