Long Itchington Footpaths and Bridleways
April 2, 2008
As with several other parishes in South Warwickshire, we are considering taking the decision to manage our footpaths and bridleways via the P3 partnership. This means that a local group led by Lynne and Russ Fowler, will become responsible for the mapping and maintenance of most of the parish paths. Warwickshire County Council provides the funding for the essential repairs, maintenance and public awareness, but we use a local contractor to effect the repairs and some maintenance. Some maintenance is undertaken by the P3 group itself, so we need more volunteer helpers.

Flood Prevention Update
April 2, 2008
Following the narrow escape on July 20th last year, the following progress has been made in reducing the risks of further flooding in the future:
- The Environment Agency (EA), which is responsible for the river and flood defences including the floodwall and the pumps by the church, has approved in principle a £775,000 Flood Alleviation Scheme which it hopes will start this summer and be completed by March 2009. The EA and the Parish Council are currently working on the scoping document for the project which will involve realigning the river to the east of Bascote Bridge and raising the flood wall by some 20cm.
